Frequently Asked Questions
What are the charges and costs involved?
The making of any tensile membrane installation
project is unique and subjective to the project requirement and scale of the structure. At The Shade Studio, our team of tensile roofing experts continuously strives to provide our clients with the best quality of tensile roofing solutions at honest prices. The costs implications vary based on factors like
Design Considerations
Design of the supporting structure
Specifications required
Fabric type
Style/shape/design elements chosen
Area to be covered
Other Aspects
Life expectancy
Weather conditions
Fabric type
Are Tensile Fabric canopy Structures difficult to maintain?
Most of the fabrics that are used in tensile fabric
structures have self-cleaning properties, making it easy to maintain the tensile fabric structures. In addition to this, factors like the design and location of the structure affects its maintenance level. We recommend annual inspections to verify the condition of your tensile fabric structures.
Which type of Fabrics can be used for Developing Tensile Membrane Structures?
The Two most standard Tensile Fabrics used are
PVC coated polyester & PTFE coated fibre glass Both are excellent and water tight materials that can be used for a large range of applications. They differ in translucency, color options and durability & load carrying capabilities. The kind of material you will choose will depend on your design and engineering requirements. Other factors like size and cost also need to be taken into consideration while choosing the fabric.
How long does it take to Design, Manufacture and Install a Tensile Structure or canopy?
We provide our clients with detailed time
schedule for the various stages of the project. Based on the size of the project, it takes about 312 weeks from the time the order is placed to complete installation. Our well-trained team of tensile professionals can sometimes work with flexible schedules to accommodate client
requirements for faster executions.
Can Tensile Fabric Structures be repaired?
All tensile fabrics are extremely durable and
resilient and are capable of withstanding immense amount of tension. The kind of damage and the structure type determine whether a structure can be repaired or not. A minor cut or puncture to the fabric can easily be patched but bigger damages and older structures pose significant problems.
What colors are available?
Tensile fabric structures and tents look most
elegant and stand out in variants of white. However, if the client is looking for a specific color for their structure, then PVC on polyester provides a variety of options. PVC on polyester is a better option comparatively as it protects the polyester fibers from the harmful effects of the UV rays. They also affect the light transmission properties of the fabric. For structures that require lightweight fabric, a wide range of colors is available.
How is Rainwater Channelized through the Tensile Fabric Structures?
Tensile structures are designed to channelize
rainwater to the periphery and allowed to run off under gravity. Sometimes we install special structures and channels to divert the excess water towards the ground.
Are the Tensile Structures /Fabric canopies / Garden Gazebo safe for Playgrounds and Children's play area?
We strive to make these structures perfectly
suitable for places involving children. Care is taken to avoid sharp edges and small parts.
Do I require planning Permission for Erecting Tensile Membrane Structures?
Most structures do not require planning
permissions, but to be on the safer side one should approach the local authorities for guidelines.
Does the position of the Tensile Fabrics affect the Cleaning Process?
The design of the structure, location, orientation and the climatic conditions play a decisive role. e.g. There is less built-up of dirt and soil in tensile structures that are installed vertically as compared to those installed horizontally.
